The video is not for the squeamish. Now, it is clear that Abramovic is on her own wave length, as far as her ‘art’ goes. What you have to decide here is this: Is she portraying a mock child sacrifice by what she’s doing, or is she symbolizing something that she promotes personally? I see a lot of elements of blood sacrifice in her artwork. There are parallels here to Bohemian Grove’s CARE ritual, where an effigy is burned before the owl god Molech, and also to Jewish blood sacrifice as demanded by their pagan god El / Yahweh. Toss in what the Catholic Church does, and you have a lot of hints that this is a real thing being passed off as interpretive art.
Dear Tony, I am so looking forward to the Spirit Cooking dinner at my place. Do you think you will be able to let me know if your brother is joining? All my love, Marina – Wikileaks
Marina Abramović (Serbian Cyrillic: Марина Абрамовић, Serbo-Croatian pronunciation: [maˌrǐːna abˈrǎːmoʋit͡ɕ]; born November 30, 1946) is a Serbian performance artist based in New York. Her work explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind. Active for over three decades, Abramović has been described as the “grandmother of performance art.” She pioneered a new notion of identity by bringing in the participation of observers, focusing on “confronting pain, blood, and physical limits of the body.” – Wikipedia
